Job summary

Gerdau North America is seeking a Rolling Mill General Turn Supervisor to lead operations in our manufacturing environment. You will drive safety, productivity, and continuous improvement while developing high-performing teams.

Ideal candidates will have 3–5 years of leadership experience in industrial settings, a bachelor’s degree in an engineering or related field, and a proven track record in achieving operational excellence and cost performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • 3–5 years of leadership experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment with exposure to production systems, quality processes, standardization practices, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience considered; in lieu of a degree, additional 3–5 years of leadership experience may be accepted.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage priorities, and drive operational results in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and employee development skills.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day operations within assigned areas, ensuring safe, efficient production performance.
  • Coordinate workflow and resources to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop employees with emphasis on accountability and teamwork.
  • Facilitate training and ensure compliance with procedures, safety requirements, and standards.
  • Champion safety programs and emergency preparedness policies and responses.
  • Monitor KPIs to drive improvements in safety, quality, productivity, and cost.
  • Ensure compliance with standards and identify opportunities for process improvement.
  • Conduct audits, document findings, and lead corrective actions.
  • Support daily management activities and collaborate across departments to solve problems and achieve objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead day-to-day operations within assigned areas, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable production performance.
  • Coordinate workflow and resources to minimize downtime, reduce operational disruptions, and maximize productivity.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop employees, promoting a culture of accountability, engagement, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Facilitate training and development initiatives, ensuring employees are qualified and compliant with operational procedures, safety requirements, and company standards.
  • Champion a strong safety culture by administering safety programs and supporting emergency preparedness policies, procedures, and response activities.
  • Monitor key performance indicators and operational metrics to drive improvements in safety, quality, productivity, and cost performance.
  • Ensure compliance with established standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements while identifying opportunities for process improvement.
  • Conduct audits, document findings, and lead corrective action plans to address gaps and improve operational performance.
  • Support daily management activities and collaborate across departments to solve problems, improve processes, and achieve business objectives.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Business Administration, or a related field from an accredited institution preferred.
  • 3-5 years of leadership experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment with exposure to production systems, quality processes, standardization practices, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered. In lieu of a degree, an additional 3-5 years of relevant manufacturing leadership experience may be accepted.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage priorities, and drive operational results in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and employee development skills.
  • Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and operational excellence.
