Job summary

Gerdau North America is seeking an Industrial Electrical Supervisor — Day Shift to lead electrical reliability across utilities, cranes, and buildings at a U.S. site in Virginia. You will drive continuous operation, safety, and cost efficiency while guiding a team of operators and maintenance staff.

This role emphasizes predictive maintenance, Kaizen, and strong leadership. Relocation within the U.S. is available, and a competitive bonus program accompanies the base salary.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred with 3 years of experience or HS Diploma/GED and 5+ years of related work experience.
  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience in a heavy manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of utilities, cranes, mobile equipment, switch yards, truck scale systems, baghouses and HVAC.
  • Knowledge of predictive, preventive, and proactive maintenance methods.
  • Experience teaching and enhancing direct reports' skills and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Good knowledge of AC/DC controls, motors, and transformers.
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems.
  • Ownership mindset and strong leadership qualities.
  • Able to work day shift with on-call for nights/weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Control workflow within area of responsibility to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
  • Facilitate training sessions for operators using a maintained training matrix.
  • Coach and develop the team in failure analysis and QIS methodology.
  • Develop performance expectations, audit performance, and establish corrective actions.
  • Collaborate on GBS processes, 5S initiatives, preventive maintenance, safety management, Kaizen events, and process improvements.
  • Conduct trend analysis and analyze symptoms and failures.
  • Administer safety activities and coordinate emergency preparedness practices.
  • Track performance on control items; ensure compliance and update standards.
  • Oversee daily routine management activities and support GBS tools.
  • Establish cell goals and manage action plans for area performance.
  • Improve equipment reliability using Predictive Technologies (PdM).
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects including QIS, Six Sigma, and Kaizen.

Industrial Electrical Supervisor — Day Shift | $115k–$130k + Annual Bonus | Relocation Assistance Within U.S.

Lead electrical reliability for Gerdau, a major U.S. steel manufacturer.

This day‑shift leadership role gives you real authority, support, and a facility investing in predictive technologies.

Your Purpose

The areas of responsibility include Utilities, Cranes, Mobile Equipment and Buildings and Grounds. This position works closely with production personnel and management to ensure continuous operation and improvement. You will report directly to the Maintenance Superintendent. You will be responsible for providing leadership, guidance and establishing a productive, high performing, and safety conscious working environment. The major role of this job is to focus on all aspects related to safety, environmental, production, cost, quality, and people management through the continuous application of Gerdau principles for all areas of responsibility.

Your Work
  • Duties will include controlling the work flow within the area of responsibility, assist in minimizing downtime/breakdowns and maximizing productivity, monitor performance, managing routine processes, and training employees in routine management standards.
  • Facilitate training sessions for operators under a maintained training matrix on the compliance standards, routine methodologies, tools, policies, practices, and processes.
  • Coach and develop the team at failure analysis and support the QIS methodology.
  • Develop performance expectations, audit performance, document findings, and establish corrective action plans.
  • Collaborate with and encourage operators on subjects pertaining to the GBS processes, audits, 5S initiatives, needs assessments, preventive maintenance and safety management processes and procedures, QIS, Kaizen Events, and other process routine management activities to identify opportunities for improvement and solve problems.
  • Conduct trend analysis, compile, and analyze symptoms and failures.
  • Administer all safety activities. Coordinate all emergency preparedness practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Track performances on control items. Ensure compliance. Design and implement new as well as update existing standards.
  • Audit performance, document findings, and develop corrective action plans.
  • Oversee, contribute to, and support daily routine management activities including the GBS Processes/Tools in the day‑by‑day work.
  • Establish and negotiate cell goals and manage Action Plans for area/cell of responsibility cell goal achievement.
  • Improve equipment reliability using Predictive Technologies (PdM).
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects using QIS, Six Sigma, 5S, Kaizens, and other continuous improvement tools.
  • Knowledge of common steel manufacturing processes and capabilities.
  • Knowledge of equipment systems and controls (mechanical, hydraulics, pneumatics, etc.).
  • Use of computer aided design (CAD): 2D drawing, editing, analysis.
  • Familiarity with Maintenance Management Software, Work Order and PM Processes Microsoft Office, Project.
