ROI Medical Records Specialist - On Site

Join us as an ROI Medical Records Specialist - On Site at MRO.

Position Overview: The ROI Specialist supports client sites by managing Release of Information (ROI) requests for patient medical records.

Tasks and Responsibilities:
  1. Determine records to be released by reviewing requestor information according to HIPAA guidelines and retrieve relevant patient data from electronic, off-site, or physical records.
  2. Respond to inquiries via phone regarding ROI issues.
  3. Assist walk-in customers requesting medical records and log their information into the ROI On-Line database.
  4. Process requests from physician offices, prioritize as needed, and fax information to them.
  5. Log and scan medical records into the ROI On-Line database.
  6. Ensure compliance with site policies and regulations.
  7. Handle and record cash payments for requests at designated sites.
  8. Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and Experience:
  • Proficiency with computer applications and data entry; experience with internet use.
  • Ability to work independently and meet production goals.
  • Strong verbal communication skills and customer service experience.
  • Attention to detail and dependability.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Experience in Release of Information in a healthcare setting or HIM Department is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and HIPAA regulations is preferred.
