Job summary

Qualifications

• Experience working with laboratory rodents (preferred).
• Ability to learn aseptically perform basic survival surgical procedures on mice using a microscope.
• Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate across various levels of the organization.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel.
• Willingness to rotate weekends/holidays and travel occasionally.
• Knowledge of animal anatomy and physiology, typically acquired through: a BS degree in Animal Science or a related field, or a high school diploma and at least 1 year of experience working with rodents.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-operative health assessments and anesthesia administration.
• Record accurate medications and monitor intra-operative vitals.
• Maintain surgical records and documentation.
• Provide post-operative care and animal assessment.
• Stock, sanitize, and maintain surgical areas; basic husbandry.
• Prepare mice for shipment and assist with minor surgical procedures.
• Continuously develop surgical skills and support other duties.
