Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan is seeking a Rod Mill Prod Operator I for our Claypool, AZ facility. This role supports casting, milling, coiling, shipping, furnace and refractory processes and requires safe, reliable operation of heavy equipment in a 24/7 environment.

You will complete progression criteria, demonstrate mechanical aptitude, and maintain clean, safe work areas. English communication, teamwork, and the ability to ascend ladders and walk on uneven surfaces are essential; high school diploma or

• Must be qualified in two major positions as defined in the Progression program.
• Must meet prior level progression criteria.
• Must have completed academic and practical competencies required (including LOP) and have experience demonstrating the required mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to work in a potentially stressful environment.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, procedures, and safety standards.
• Ability to interact effectively with others.
• Ability to ascend and descend ladders.
• Ability to walk on uneven surfaces.
• Ability and willingness to learn and apply new or changing tasks.

What You Will Do

What You Bring To Freeport

• Must be qualified in two major positions as defined in the Progression program

• Must meet prior level progression criteria

• Must have completed academic and practical competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP Exists) and have experience demonstrating the required mechanical aptitude. The selected candidate shall demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and technical skills while also passing a written assessment where required. This exam is based on technical skills/abilities and/or academic knowledge; as well as safety.

Preferred Qualifications

What We Offer You

The estimated pay range for this role is currently $24.00 - $32.00/hour. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
