Job summary

Prysmian is seeking a Machine Operator in McKinney, Texas to safely operate production equipment and support furnace operations on a 12-hour night shift (6 PM–6 AM). Starting pay is $20/hr.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required or equivalent.
  • Previous manufacturing/production experience preferred.
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment and perform basic adjustments.
  • Comfortable around industrial machinery and high heat.
  • Ability to work in tight spaces and lift heavy objects.
  • Must work a 12-hour night shift (6 PM–6 AM).

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor production machinery and furnace-related equipment.
  • Maintain furnace melting rates, temperatures, oxygen, and molten metal levels.
  • Perform routine checks on burners, tap holes, spouts, launders, and holding furnaces.
  • Monitor processes to stay within operating ranges and report issues.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical problems and replace parts as needed.
  • Perform minor maintenance and preventative maintenance on equipment.
  • Calibrate and monitor equipment such as CO analyzers as required.
  • Maintain production and maintenance records and follow safety procedures.

Schedule: Night Shift - (6PM - 6AM)

Starting Pay: $20/hr

Position Overview

The Machine Operator is responsible for safely operating, monitoring, and maintaining production equipment in a manufacturing environment. This position will primarily support furnace operations, including monitoring molten metal temperatures, oxygen levels, furnace levels, and related equipment.

The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a hands‑on industrial environment, troubleshooting equipment, making adjustments, and performing minor repairs and preventative maintenance as needed.

Essential Job Functions
  • Operate and monitor production machinery and furnace‑related equipment.
  • Maintain proper furnace melting rates, temperatures, oxygen content, and molten metal levels.
  • Perform routine checks of furnace burners, tap holes, spouts, launders, holding furnaces, hoses, lines, and related equipment.
  • Monitor equipment and production processes to ensure they remain within required operating ranges.
  • Identify equipment or process issues and make necessary adjustments.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical problems and replace or repair parts as needed.
  • Perform minor maintenance, cleaning, and preventative maintenance on assigned equipment.
  • Calibrate and monitor equipment such as CO analyzers as required.
  • Check equipment for air and gas leaks and report or correct issues.
  • Start up and shut down equipment following company safety procedures and OSHA requirements.
  • Maintain required production and maintenance records.
  • Keep the work area clean and follow all safety procedures.
  • Perform other production or machine operator duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Previous manufacturing, production, machine operating, or mechanically inclined experience preferred.
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment and make basic mechanical adjustments.
  • Comfortable working around industrial machinery, excessive heat, and high‑voltage equipment.
  • Ability to work in tight spaces, underneath machinery, and on elevated structures when required.
  • Ability to push, pull, and lift heavy objects or machine parts with or without assistance.
  • Ability to stand and work for extended periods.
  • Must be able to work a 12-hour night shift (6 PM–6 AM).
