Job summary

Skild AI seeks a Robotics Engineer to own our teleop systems, improving data collection for model training and serving as the first contact for teleop issues. You will continually evaluate and integrate teleop hardware and software, from VR headsets and trackers to retargeting methods and end-effectors.

You will work at the frontier of how humans teach robots at scale, collaborating with ML, robotics, and data operations teams as well as operators who collect data daily.

Qualifications

• Degree in CS/Robotics/Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• Proficiency in Python and C++.
• Experience developing or debugging software on real robots.
• Experience with teleoperation, VR/AR or motion capture systems.
• Experience with video streaming systems (e.g., GStreamer) and basic computer vision.
• Familiarity with robot kinematics, inverse kinematics, and motion retargeting.
• Experience with Linux, networking, and ROS/ROS2 or similar middleware.
• Experience with dexterous hands, humanoids, or other high-DoF robots is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Triage and fix teleop issues that block data collection, from tracking and retargeting to latency and data recording.
• Build tools and monitoring that catch teleop failures before they cost collection time.
• Evaluate and integrate new teleop hardware and software, including VR headsets, glove and body trackers, and retargeting methods.
• Benchmark robot end-effectors for teleoperation performance and data quality.
• Work with operators to make teleop faster, more reliable, and easier to use.
