Job summary

Siemens Healthineers is seeking an early-career Systems Engineer 1 - Robotics & Automation to design, integrate, and validate robotic systems for laboratory diagnostics. You will work with seasoned engineers across mechanical, electrical, and software domains to deliver precise, reliable automation that strengthens clinical workflows.

You will apply ROS2, CAD tools, and automated testing to develop motion plans, calibrations, and data-driven improvements.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in robotics or related engineering with May 2027 graduation.
Hands-on experience programming and integrating robotic arms including configuration, calibration, and motion planning.
Experience with ROS2 and integrating robots, sensors, actuators, and microcontrollers into working platforms.
Strong Python and MATLAB skills for control, data collection, and analysis.
Understanding of systems and controls fundamentals and how subsystems interact.
Experience with CAD tools such as SOLIDWORKS, Siemens NX, or Autodesk Inventor and rapid prototyping.

Responsibilities

Program, configure, and tune robotic arms to execute precise, repeatable workflows in a laboratory setting.
Characterize and improve robot accuracy and repeatability, applying calibration to tight tolerances.
Develop and optimize motion paths balancing cycle time, reliability, and precision.
Integrate vision-guided perception and robust grasping for manipulation of objects in lab conditions.
Use simulation to prototype and de-risk robotic behaviors before deployment.
Design and iterate mechanical fixtures and end-effectors for robust handling, including rapid prototyping.
Support system-level design, integration, and verification of robotic subsystems within lab-automation platforms.
Translate product requirements into technical specs, interfaces, and test plans.
Build data-collection and analysis tools to quantify performance and communicate results to stakeholders.
Perform root-cause analysis across mechanical, electrical, and software domains.
