Siemens Healthineers in the United States seeks a Systems Engineer 1 – Robotics & Automation to design, integrate, and validate robotic systems for laboratory diagnostics. The role suits an early‑career engineer with hands‑on robotics experience, collaborating across mechanical, electrical, and software teams in a regulated medical‑device environment.

You will program, configure, and tune robotic arms, develop motion paths, and integrate vision and perception, using ROS2, Python, MATLAB, and CAD

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in robotics, biomedical, mechanical, electrical, systems, or a related engineering discipline.
• Hands-on experience programming and integrating robotic arms – including configuration, calibration, and motion planning.
• Practical experience with ROS2 and integrating robots, sensors, actuators, and microcontrollers into working platforms.
• Strong programming skills in Python and MATLAB for control, data collection, and analysis.
• Knowledge of systems and controls fundamentals and how subsystems interact as a whole.
• Experience with CAD tools such as SOLIDWORKS, Siemens NX, or Autodesk Inventor and rapid prototyping for fixtures.
• Familiarity with computer vision / perception for robotics (e.g., depth sensing, object detection, OpenCV).
• Exposure to AI-assisted programming and agent-based tooling to accelerate development.
• Strong analytical rigor, curiosity, and structured problem-solving; ability to reason about system performance with data.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; demonstrated leadership and teamwork.

Responsabilités

• Program, configure, and tune robotic arms to execute precise, repeatable lab workflows.
• Characterize and improve robot accuracy and repeatability with calibration techniques.
• Develop and optimize motion paths to balance cycle time, reliability, and precision.
• Integrate vision-guided perception and grasping for object handling in labs.
• Use simulation and modeling tools to prototype robot behaviors before deployment.
• Design and iterate fixtures and end-effectors for robust robotic handling.
