Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Systems Administrator Engineer III to lead design, operation, and improvements of scalable infrastructure. You will mentor engineers, drive technical initiatives, and collaborate with partners to deliver reliable services across multiple domains.

Responsibilities include developing automation, managing projects, and producing clear runbooks and documentation for technical and non-technical audiences. This role blends hands-on engineering with project leadership at scale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or above in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other STEM field.
• 7+ years of technical program management experience.
• Experience owning program strategy, managing end-to-end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership.
• Experience managing external vendors and contractors — including generating RFPs, and setting requirements and SLAs.
• Ability to travel 75% within the domestic US
• 5+ years of operations, automation, and process improvement experience
• 3+ years of team development experience

Responsibilities

• Lead design, implementation, and improvement of systems and services within your scope, ensuring high availability and security.
• Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues across multiple domains, balancing short-term mitigations with long-term solutions.
• Plan and manage technical projects end to end, scoping work, milestones, and coordinating across teams to stay on schedule.
• Develop and maintain automation that reduces workload and scales infrastructure.
• Create and review SOPs, runbooks, and technical docs; communicate status, trade-offs, and risks to audiences.
