Job summary

ArcBest in Fort Smith, AR seeks an Intern, Robotics Software Engineer to contribute to R&D in autonomous systems, computer vision, object recognition, and path planning. The role blends research with hands-on software development and prototyping in a collaborative team.

You will work on university-level projects, gaining experience with C++, Python, Linux, ROS, RViz, Gazebo, OpenCV, and PCL while staying within a part-time schedule under 30 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Pursuing Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Electrical/Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering, or related field, preferred
• Superior academic and leadership achievements, preferred
• Prior hands-on experience with robots including grounds robots, self-driving cars, quadrotors, robotic arms, and/or mobile robots.

Responsibilities

• Manage a research project during the internship that focuses on key R&D problems.
• Assist in the setup, maintenance, and design of software modules and overall architecture.
• Perform ad-hoc requests that review, develop, and/or analyze operational or department-specific processes.
• Maintain a positive attitude in a highly intense environment.
• Work in a team setting to accomplish department goals.
• Other duties and projects, as assigned.
