Job summary

Medra is building autonomous robotic systems for biology tools in San Francisco. The role focuses on designing robotics algorithms, motion planning, and computer vision to enable human-scale dexterity and autonomous operation within physical labs.

You will work closely with scientists and engineers, shipping software for real hardware and simulation. On-site work in San Francisco is required, with relocation benefits offered.

Qualifications

• 4+ years designing and building algorithms for robotics systems.
• Experience with robot arm manipulators.
• Proficient in Python.
• BS/MS/Ph.D. in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Experience with software engineering practices in production.
• Hacker's mindset and ability to deliver good-enough solutions.
• Willingness to wear many hats / flexible responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop robotic solutions to manipulate and control biology tools designed for humans.
• Develop and implement motion planning algorithms to avoid collisions in a dynamic environment.
• Use computer vision to work with consumables and equipment that humans use.
• Integrate, test, and debug software solutions in simulation and on physical robots.
• Work with partner scientists at customer labs to understand pain points and guide deployment.
• Identify opportunities for simplification and design for scalability.
