Job summary

Meta's Reality Labs Research is seeking a Research Mechanical Engineer to tackle challenging mechanical and electrical design problems in robotics, balancing ergonomics, performance, reliability and safety.

You will work with a cross-functional team on concept development, prototyping, testing, and validation across electro-mechanics, sensors, and control domains, with opportunities to contribute to AI-enabled workflows.

Qualifications

• BS degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 6+ years in Mechanical Design Engineering, with machine design or electrical component development.
• Experience designing electromechanical assemblies (robotics, automotive, aerospace).
• Experience with CAD tools like SOLIDWORKS or Siemens NX.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical and electrical systems for robotics while balancing ergonomics, performance, and reliability.
• Prototype with internal/external partners for benchtop and user testing.
• Perform failure analyses, test plans, measurements, and data analysis.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver solutions.
