Job summary

Radical AI is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design and build robotic and autonomous systems for a self-driving laboratory focused on material science research. You will own the physical manifestation of our tech, defining requirements, performing 3D design, prototyping, validation, and installation, with a strong emphasis on hands-on fabrication and fast iteration.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 3–5 years of industry experience in part, mechanism, and large assembly design.
• Expert proficiency in SOLIDWORKS; speed is crucial.
• DFM and rapid prototyping (CNC, sheet metal, 3D printing).
• Proven success in delivering novel mechanism and machine designs.
• Strong hands-on fabrication and assembly skills.
• Willingness to tackle hard, ambiguous problems.

Responsibilities

• Design solutions for complex material handling and laboratory automation challenges.
• Communicate technical designs clearly to technical and non-technical audiences using 2D and 3D visualization.
• Develop complex CAD assemblies to solve automation challenges.
• Rapidly prototype designs and coordinate with vendors for fabrication and system integration.
