On behalf of our client, a fast-growing autonomy company building high-level planning systems for autonomous haul trucks in mining environments, we're hiring a Robotics Planning Engineer. Our client's technology is deployed in production across multiple countries, coordinating 200+ ton vehicles at scale, and the company is growing fast with over $1.7B recently raised.

We're looking for a Robotics Planning Engineer with 2+ years of experience to join as one of the first planning engineers on the team. You'll have the rare opportunity to work across motion planning, coordination planning, and fleet planning, building systems that don't exist anywhere else in the industry.

What You'll Do

• Develop path planning and trajectory systems for autonomous haul trucks, ensuring smooth navigation around unmapped obstacles
• Design intersection management systems that compute optimal truck sequences to minimize site-wide wait times
• Build motion planning, coordination planning, and fleet planning systems, translating site-wide state into dynamic per-truck assignments
• Implement multi-agent coordination systems that prevent deadlocks and collisions while maximizing throughput
• Work closely with controls and systems engineers to validate planning algorithms in simulation and on real vehicles during live deployments

What We're Looking For

• 2+ years of experience in robotics planning, motion planning, or multi-agent coordination systems
• Strong background in Python and C++
• Experience with tools like NumPy, SciPy, Shapely, or Numba
• Comfort working on production systems deployed on physical hardware
• Location: San Francisco, CA (5 days on-site, SoMa)
