ABB Robotics is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer - Paint Application to support system integration for paint robotics, training, and on-site installations at our Auburn Hills, MI location. This role interfaces between customers and the ABB Modernization Team, shaping how ABB is perceived through high-quality execution.

The candidate will design robotic paint cells, specify equipment variations, and ensure adherence to customer specs, with 20-30% travel required.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required.
5 years’ experience with robotics/paint system integration and related applications.
Mechanical knowledge of automotive paint applications on multiple substrates.
Experience with AutoCAD and SolidWorks required.
Willingness to travel 20–30% (domestic and international).

Responsibilities

Provide system integration support of ABB robots for paint applications.
Provide paint robot-specific training.
Communicate with customers in high-pressure situations and maintain relationships.
Travel 20–30% for on-site support and installations.
Design systems using 3D design software and create lineups for manufacturing.
Create scopes of work for manufacturing, installation, and RFQ processes.
Support and supervise installations.
