Job summary

ABB Robotics in Auburn Hills, MI is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to act as a design authority for mechanical disciplines with low to medium complexity. This onsite role focuses on completing assignments on small projects or portions of larger ones, applying design thinking and ensuring compliance with standards.

You will use AutoCAD and SolidWorks for 2D/3D design, support testing and commissioning, prepare proposals, lead design activities, and interface with customers on technical issues.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering is required with at least 1 year of project engineering experience.
• Understanding of Fluids Schematics, design, build, troubleshoot Hydraulic and Pneumatic Systems.
• Prior experience with AutoCAD and SolidWorks is required.
• Knowledge of paint process methodology in Automated Paint Applications is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, select, and apply standard techniques to perform engineering assignments.
• Provide technical support for testing, installation, and commissioning activities.
• Assist in preparing proposals and presentations for engineering projects.
• Perform design verification using checklists per standards and guidelines.
• Act as main customer interface on mechanical and process issues.
• Plan and lead mechanical engineering and design activities for projects.
• Enforce ABB processes and maintain project schedule and budget.
• Lead resources as required to meet contract specifications.
• Ensure adherence to customer specifications.
