Job summary

Digital Prospectors is seeking a hands-on Mechanical Engineer to support rapid development of robotic and electromechanical systems. You will contribute to mechanical design, software, embedded sensing, electrical integration, prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting in small multidisciplinary teams.

You will help transition concepts into functional prototypes and demonstrations across software, hardware, lab testing, and field experiments as project needs evolve.

Qualifications

• Five+ years with 3D printing and rapid prototyping.
• Five+ years solving complex technical problems and delivering functional systems.
• Five+ years designing and integrating robotic/mechatronic systems.
• Five+ years selecting actuators, motors, sensors, and controllers.
• Five+ years programming in Python, Golang, or C++.
• Five+ years using AutoCAD or comparable CAD tools.
• Five+ years integrating software with hardware and embedded platforms.
• Five+ years with microcontrollers or embedded computing.
• Five+ years diagnosing and troubleshooting technical issues.
• Five+ years integrating hardware with software and electrical components.
• Five+ years with Raspberry Pi, Arduino, and related interfaces.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, prototype, fabricate, integrate, and test robotic hardware and electromechanical systems.
• Design mechanical components and assemblies using CAD tools including AutoCAD.
• Develop rapid prototypes via 3D printing, machining, and fabrication.
• Select and integrate actuators, motors, sensors, controllers, and related parts.
• Develop basic electrical interfaces, wiring, and power distribution for prototypes.
• Design and implement embedded control and data-acquisition with platforms like Raspberry Pi/Arduino.
• Develop software for robotic systems using C++, Python, Golang or similar.
• Integrate software, electronics, sensors, actuators, and mechanicals into full systems.
• Develop real-time or near real-time applications and hardware-software integration.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, embedded, and software subsystems.
• Create integration procedures and systematic troubleshooting for performance.
• Develop test plans, fixtures, and data-collection tools.
• Document system requirements, test results, risks, and improvements.
• Work in small teams on rapid design-build-test cycles under tight schedules.
• Communicate designs and results to technical teams and sponsors.
• Contribute to technical reports, proposals, and program documentation.
