Job summary

Boston Dynamics is seeking an ambitious, self-starting mechanical engineering co-op to join the team building Atlas, our humanoid robot. Co-ops design, build, and test prototypes; they investigate weird problems; and they run experiments of all kinds.

As part of a cross‑disciplinary team, you will work with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to design and support complex robotic systems, perform verification and validation testing, and develop new features for existing products.

Qualifications

• A demonstrated passion for robotics and mechanical design.
• Hands-on; able to build, assemble, and troubleshoot hardware.
• Strong writing skills for test plans, reports, and specs.
• Pursuing BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Work with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to design and support complex robotic systems.
• Plan and perform verification and validation testing on prototype and production systems.
• Design and develop new features for existing products.
• Troubleshoot issues and perform root cause analysis to sustain products.
• Design and release parts and assemblies using CATIA CAD software.
• Develop and maintain product support documentation including BOMs and drawings.
• Support system design analyses, including reliability, DFM / DFA, cost-reduction.
