Job summary

Dexmate is seeking a Mechanical & Durability Test Engineer to own mechanical validation across our robots, from test plans to durability campaigns. You will spend time in the lab building fixtures, instrumenting hardware, and running tests to tear down parts and find root causes. Your sign-off determines readiness to ship.

This hands-on role requires lab work, fixture design, and strong analytical skills to translate field usage into robust test programs and actionable improvements.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field or equivalent hands-on experience.
• 4+ years hands-on mechanical testing, validation, or reliability engineering for robotics/industrial devices.
• Hands-on with shop tools and fixture builds.
• Tests instrumented with strain gauges, load cells, and DAQ systems.
• Experience designing fatigue, durability, or accelerated life tests.
• CAD proficiency for fixture design (SolidWorks/Onshape).
• Strong root-cause analysis and clear technical writing.

Responsibilities

• Translate real customer usage into lab test specs and reliability targets.
• Define and execute mechanical validation plans for robot structures and subsystems.
• Run strength, stiffness, stability, and load tests on components and full robots.
• Design and run accelerated life and durability tests on joints, cables, and wear parts.
• Conduct environmental tests (vibration, shock, thermal cycling, humidity).
• Design/build test fixtures, jigs, and stands from CAD to fabrication.
• Instrument tests with strain gauges, load cells, DAQ; report results.
• Correlate test data with FEA/CAE models and feedback to design.
• Lead mechanical failure analysis and maintain a failure-mode database.
• Turn test data into Weibull estimates and ship/no-ship recommendations.
• Collaborate with suppliers and labs for certification testing.
• Write clear test procedures for technicians and offshore teams.
