Job summary

Dexmate Inc. is seeking hands-on Engineering Technicians to keep our robots built, tested, and running from our Fremont facility. You will bring up new units, run tests, maintain the internal fleet, and assist in field deployments for customers.

The role sits between engineering and the robot; you will turn test plans into data, diagnose root causes, and help shape testing and maintenance as we scale from prototypes to production. Strong electromechanical skills are required.

Qualifications

2+ years of hands-on experience building, testing, maintaining, or repairing complex electromechanical systems such as robotics or automation.
Strong electrical and mechanical fundamentals: reading schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings; comfortable with crimping, soldering, harness work, and torque-controlled assembly.
Fluency with diagnostic tools: DMM, oscilloscope, power supplies, current probes.
Comfort on a Linux command line: SSH into a robot, read logs, run scripts, flash and update software.
Methodical approach to testing and data; you follow procedures precisely and record what happened accurately.
Clear written and verbal communication with engineers and, in the field, with customers.
Associate's or bachelor's degree in engineering or technical field, military training, or equivalent hands-on experience.
Ability to lift 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and travel occasionally.

Responsibilities

System Build & Bring-Up: Assemble, integrate, and bring up robots, subsystems, and test fixtures; flash firmware, configure software, and verify units against specs.
Test & Validation: Execute component-, subsystem-, and system-level tests; set up rigs, collect data, and adapt procedures as specs evolve.
Test Development & Automation: Help write and improve test procedures; build and maintain fixtures and script repetitive tests and data capture.
Fleet Maintenance: Own preventive maintenance and inspection for the internal robot fleet; track wear and failure trends.
Troubleshooting & Failure Analysis: Diagnose faults using tools; isolate root cause, perform repairs and write findings for engineers.
Field Support: Travel 10-20% to customer and partner sites for installs, repairs, and debugging with Hardware Support.
Documentation: Maintain records of builds, test results, repairs, and configurations; create runbooks and guides.
Engineering Feedback Loop: Flag recurring failures and design-for-test improvements to teams.
Lab & Safety: Keep test areas organized and calibrated; follow safety practices.
