Job description

About Bayro LLC

Bayro LLC develops autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) and industrial automation solutions for manufacturing and logistics. We integrate robotics, vision, and automation to improve material handling, production quality, and operational efficiency.

About the Role

We are seeking a Robotics & Machine Vision Engineer to support two key areas: camera-based localization that complements our AMRs’ LiDAR SLAM navigation, and vision inspection applications for industrial automation equipment.

This is a full-time, hybrid position based in Dallas, Texas. The role requires hands-on work with robots, cameras, and automation equipment, including on-site integration, testing, and commissioning.

Responsibilities
AMR Vision and Localization
  • Develop camera-based localization capabilities that complement existing LiDAR SLAM and navigation systems.
  • Implement visual landmark detection, fiducial-based localization using AprilTag or similar markers, pose estimation, and precision docking.
  • Work with navigation engineers to integrate visual measurements into the robot’s localization pipeline.
  • Perform camera calibration, coordinate transformations, and sensor alignment.
  • Evaluate and improve localization accuracy and reliability under changing lighting, occlusion, and repetitive industrial layouts.
Industrial Vision Inspection
  • Develop and optimize applications for defect detection, dimensional measurement, part identification, assembly verification, and barcode or OCR reading.
  • Select and integrate cameras, lenses, lighting, and image acquisition hardware.
  • Improve existing inspection programs to reduce false accepts and false rejects while meeting production cycle-time requirements.
  • Integrate vision software with PLCs, industrial PCs, and motion-control systems.
  • Troubleshoot imaging and inspection issues in production environments.
Software Development and Deployment
  • Write maintainable software with clear interfaces, logging, and technical documentation.
  • Develop datasets and test procedures to validate accuracy, processing speed, and reliability.
  • Collaborate with software, navigation, electrical, and mechanical engineers.
  • Support equipment commissioning and troubleshooting at company and customer sites.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 years of relevant experience developing and deploying computer vision or industrial machine vision applications.
  • Proficiency in C or Python and hands-on experience with OpenCV.
  • Understanding of camera calibration, image processing, coordinate transformations, and imaging hardware selection.
  • Practical project experience in at least one of the following areas, with willingness to contribute to both:
    • Robotics vision: visual localization, pose estimation, feature matching, visual odometry, or visual SLAM.
    • Industrial vision: defect detection, measurement, pattern matching, or production inspection using OpenCV, HALCON, Cognex VisionPro, or comparable tools.
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems involving software, cameras, lighting, and equipment integration.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across engineering disciplines.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with AMRs, AGVs, precision docking, or robot alignment.
  • Familiarity with ROS/ROS 2, LiDAR SLAM, and camera, IMU, or wheel‑odometry integration.
  • Experience with sensor fusion, camera‑to‑LiDAR calibration, or sensor synchronization.
  • Experience with stereo cameras, depth cameras, point clouds, or 3D vision.
  • Experience deploying deep learning models for detection, segmentation, or anomaly detection.
  • Familiarity with PLC communication and industrial automation systems.
