Job summary

Field AI in Irvine, CA seeks an experienced Human‑Robot Interaction & Product Design Engineer to shape hardware aesthetics, interaction, and expressiveness for field robotics. You will lead cross‑team collaboration across Electrical, Mechanical, and Computing hardware while balancing SWaP and ensuring robust AV systems.

You will drive display, lighting, and audio selections, validate firmware interfaces, and partner with Product/UX to deliver tangible robotic experiences in harsh environments.

Qualifications

• Experience in AV hardware selection for robotics products.
• Experience balancing SWaP across audio-visual hardware.
• Prototyping with CAD tools and rapid iteration.

Responsibilities

• Drive form, interaction, and CMF decisions shaping robot appearance and feel.
• Select and program displays, lighting, and ambient elements for hardware payloads.
• Develop audio system specs and validate connectivity and performance in field conditions.
