Job summary

Field AI is hiring a Systems Engineer to bring new robot platforms into our fleet and ensure safe, reliable operation in real-world environments.

You will integrate control systems, autonomy stack, and payloads across platforms, collaborating with Autonomy/RL, Manipulation, Mechanical, and Electrical teams to deliver field-ready solutions. This role is fully onsite at our Irvine, CA office.

Qualifications

• Education: B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Robotics, CS, or related field.
• Experience: 3–9 years in robotics or related field.
• Software: ROS/ROS2 middleware; Python and C++ programming.
• Robotics software generalist across controls, navigation, and systems integration.

Responsibilities

• Platform Abstraction: build software layers between robot control stacks and Field AI systems.
• Robot Controls & Navigation: ensure safe operation across quadruped, humanoid, and wheeled platforms.
• Electro-Mechanical Integration: collaborate with mechanical/electrical engineers on interfaces.
• Sim-to-Real: validate RL/autonomy policies from simulation to real hardware.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: coordinate across autonomy, manipulation, mechanical, and electrical teams.
