Job summary

FieldAI in Irvine, CA is seeking an Automation Engineer to work with our deployed robot fleet, improving reliability and performance across real‑world sites. You’ll bridge robotics, machine learning, and field operations to triage and resolve autonomy issues.

You will build datasets, train and fine‑tune models, and collaborate with deployment teams to validate improvements that scale across sites, ensuring robust, field‑ready autonomous systems in production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Robotics, AI, or a related field.
• Proficient Python and ML frameworks with emphasis on PyTorch.
• Experience training, fine‑tuning, and evaluating ML models.
• Strong debugging and problem‑solving across ML and robotics systems.
• Experience with C++ in production ML/robotics.
• Understanding of ML data pipelines, labeling, evaluation, and deployment.
• Interest or experience in robotics, autonomous systems, perception, or planning.
• Ability to collaborate effectively across modeling, data/labeling, and deployment teams.

Responsibilities

• Own site performance and triage at deployed sites.
• Analyze logs, telemetry, and model outputs to diagnose issues.
• Drive resolution of failure modes and improve site performance.
• Collaborate with data/labeling, modeling, and deployment teams to improve models.
• Train, fine‑tune, and evaluate models for new failure modes.
• Support deployment, validation, and production rollout on robots.
