Job summary

Tutor is building a scalable supply chain for a new generation of robots. You will own the Sonny V2 vendor base, manage purchases, buffers, and lead times, and negotiate favorable terms with suppliers, including those in China.

You will build predictive tools for shortages and build strong partnerships with key suppliers while coordinating with Engineering and Production to keep the build plan on track. This role is hands-on, analytical, and on the shop floor as needed.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in supply chain, purchasing, or strategic sourcing for hardware products.
• Experience sourcing from Chinese vendors, factory qualification and payment structures.
• Proven negotiator with cost, lead‑time, MOQ, or terms wins you personally drove.
• Strong analytical and tool‑building skills: clear‑to‑build, shortage forecast tools in Excel/SQL/Python/BI.
• Fluency with MES/ERP/PLM systems and revision-controlled BOM.

Responsibilities

• Own Sonny V2 vendor base and manage suppliers for every purchased part on the BOM; lead second-sourcing for single points of failure.
• Own purchase orders, buffer strategy, and material coverage against the build plan; decide when to bulk order or air freight.
• Build and maintain predictive tools: clear‑to‑build reports, shortage callouts, lead‑time trackers, dashboards.
• Drive landed cost, MOQs, and terms; ensure visibility for product costs.
• Coordinate ECO changes with Production Engineering and R&D to absorb changes monthly.
• Evaluate outsourcing options including offshore, as Sonny grows.
• Track on-time delivery, quality, and supplier responsiveness; escalate issues.
• Keep ION inventory and part data accurate for shop floor and finance.
