Job description

About Anyware

Anyware Robotics builds general-purpose mobile manipulator robots for industrial applications. Our robots are trusted by customers across logistics, retail, and manufacturing, supporting applications such as truck unloading, mobile palletizing, and machine tending.

The Role

Most hardware internships stop at the drawing. This one starts there.

Your core work is hands‑on hardware engineering: designing, building, and validating realcomponents for Pixmo, our award‑ winning robot deployed in production at customer sites.

What sets this role apart is what happens after the drawing — you'll work with the suppliers who make your parts, turning engineering designs into manufacturable, validated prototypes and components, and becoming the team's expert on the technologies you source. You might spend a month deep in battery electrochemistry — charge/discharge strategy, cell chemistry, BMS behavior — working with our battery supplier on a next‑generation pack, then turn around and teach the engineering team

what you learned.

You'll also get dedicated time to use AI to develop any tool you want to build yourself. By the end, you won't just know how a robot is designed — you'll know how one gets made.

Expected time allocation: ~50% hardware design & validation, ~50% supplier engineering & co‑development.

What You’ll Do:

Engineering & Hardware Design (core of the role)

  • Design and prototype mechanical components for next‑generation Pixmo robots in SolidWorks
  • (parts, assemblies, drawings, basic GD&T)
  • Build, test, debug, and validate across a wide range of systems: servo motors, robotic arms and
  • end effectors, battery and power systems, vacuum systems, sensors, and actuators
  • Optimize designs for performance, durability, manufacturability, and cost

Supplier Engineering & Co-Development

This is engineering, not administration — and it's how you'll learn manufacturing from the people who do it every day:

  • Work with suppliers to turn engineering designs into manufacturable, validated prototypes and
  • components — from requirements and DFM feedback through milestones and final validation
  • Evaluate suppliers’ real manufacturing capabilities — CNC machining, sheet metal, weldments,
  • battery assembly — and use that knowledge to decide what's buildable, by whom, at what cost
  • Co‑design innovative products with suppliers that don’t exist on the market: deep‑dive into a
  • technology (battery chemistry and charging strategy, motor systems, vacuum components), learn
  • directly from the supplier’s engineers, and educate the team back at Anyware

Alongside your project work, you’ll get dedicated time to use AI to develop any tool you want to build yourself — automated quoting, procurement workflows, inventory intelligence, or whatever makes

your own work run faster

What We Are Looking For:
  • Pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or
  • a related field
  • Fluent in Mandarin Chinese — spoken and written — for supplier communication
  • Hands‑on experience with SolidWorks (parts, assemblies, drawings)
  • Genuine interest in both engineering and supplier‑facing technical work — this role is deliberately
  • hybrid

We’re less interested in a checklist of credentials and more interested in how you think. The strongest

candidates demonstrate:

  • Systematic, methodological thinking — you break problems down and work through them with
  • structure
  • Independent, critical thought — you question assumptions, dig for root causes, and form your
  • own opinions
  • The willingness to speak up — you share ideas confidently, including in front of senior leaders,
  • and push back when something doesn’t make sense
  • This is a fast‑paced startup environment. Ownership, curiosity, and adaptability matter more than any single line on a resume.
Nice To Have
  • Hands‑on experience with robot manipulation
  • Gripper design and/or development experience
  • Mobile base design and/or development experience
  • Prior involvement in heavy‑duty robotics platforms or applications
  • 1 year of hands‑on experience from industry, startups, internships, or engineering clubs/teams
  • Exposure to motor systems and/or vacuum systems
  • Comfort with 3D printing, shop tools, and lab builds
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes (machining, sheet metal, weldments)

If you are a motivated and talented engineer looking to gain practical experience in the field of robotics, we would love to hear from you. Join us and contribute to the development of cutting‑edge robotic technology with your skills and enthusiasm. This is an exciting opportunity to work on innovative projects and make a real impact on the future of robotics.
