Job summary

Amazon’s Frontier AI & Robotics team seeks a Technical Lab Manager to lead a cross-functional technician group in hardware assembly, integration, and validation of robotic prototypes. You will drive DFM/DFX feedback, ensure design for testability, and own lab processes from test setups to documentation.

You’ll oversee lab operations, mentor technicians, and coordinate with engineers to advance high-DoF robotic systems, sensors, actuators, and control hardware in a fast-paced research environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in robotics, mechanical or electrical engineering or related field.
• Extensive hands-on robotics hardware development and integration experience.
• Experience leading technical teams in lab or prototype environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead a cross-functional technician team for robotic prototype hardware.
• Assemble and integrate robotic hardware and develop test protocols.
• Validate hardware revisions and perform bring-up with attention to power/communication interfaces.
• Troubleshoot and perform root cause analysis across robot platforms.
• Author runbooks, FA reports, and assembly/troubleshooting guides.
• Oversee simple R&D mechanical design tasks and fixture design.
• Manage prototyping lab operations: shop capabilities, inventory, safety.
• Develop new lab capabilities and test methodologies.
