Job summary

Brooks Automation in Chelmsford, MA is seeking a Field Service Engineer for robot and automation systems repair. You will install, service, diagnose, and upgrade equipment at customer sites, with flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and on-call support.

You will interface with customers, ensure service levels, and train site personnel. Travel domestically and internationally may be required; a valid passport is preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree or technical certificate or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of electro-mechanical/electronics support/repair experience.
• Experience with lasers and sensing devices for position circuitry on robotic units.
• Experience troubleshooting microelectronics schematics and digital circuits.
• Proficiency with PCs, Windows, and DOS-based OS.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain passport for employment term.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in awkward/ confined spaces.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed and be on-call.

Responsibilities

• Install, modify, repair, test, upgrade, and diagnose equipment and systems per Brooks policies.
• Interface with customers to ensure satisfaction and participate in customer status meetings.
• Maintain safe working environment and comply with protocols.
• Submit service and status reports and other required documentation.
• Adapt to changing priorities and support administrative duties.
• Train Brooks and customer personnel on operation and maintenance procedures.
• Mentor and train less experienced Service Engineers.
• Lead continuous improvement programs and document new processes.
• Create reports, project plans, training plans, and certification matrices; present to customer and Brooks management.
• May work in a clean room environment with full suit as required by customer.
• Work schedule may include compressed weeks, night shifts, weekends, and on-call assignments.
