Job summary

Pave Talent is sourcing for a robotics software specialist to advance SLAM, localization, and perception for autonomous ground robots. You will ship perception software to production alongside robotics, controls, and systems engineers on real-world field deployments.

The role emphasizes hands-on implementation, collaboration, and delivering robust perception pipelines across sensor modalities in dynamic environments. Expect rigorous interviews and a strong emphasis on practical delivery.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in robotics, CS, EE or related field; 2+ years of robotics experience acceptable in lieu of degree.
• Hands-on SLAM or localization on real hardware, not just simulation.
• Solid 3D geometry, coordinate transforms, camera models and calibration knowledge.
• Proficiency in C++ and/or Python; expect a live C++ exercise.
• Linux work environment; experience with ROS/ROS 2 is required.
• At least 2 years in robotics, automation, or related real-world hardware role.
• US permanent residency; ability to clear background checks.
• On-site in Philadelphia five days a week; no remote option for this role.
• SLAM frameworks: ORB-SLAM, VINS, Cartographer, or GTSAM; lidar-based perception.
• Deep learning perception models; real robots deployment experience.
• GPU acceleration with CUDA or OpenCL; dataset curation experience.
• Publications in robotics/CV with industry delivery experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement SLAM and localization systems, using multiple sensors.
• Build CV pipelines for feature extraction, tracking, mapping, and scene understanding.
• Implement and optimize estimation algorithms, including filtering and optimization.
• Fuse data from cameras, IMUs, LiDARs, and depth sensors.
• Evaluate perception performance on real field data with robust metrics.
• Optimize for real-time performance on robot onboard compute.
• Collaborate with controls and planning teams to support autonomy.
• Develop tooling, datasets, and evaluation frameworks used by the team.
