Job summary

Sieve is seeking its first roboticist to own the physical AI data hardware, rigs, and teleoperation stations. You will drive from parts on a table to data-ready systems at partner sites, handling hardware and software across the stack.

You’ll wire, calibrate, troubleshoot, and ensure reliable data capture, with ROS/ROS2, Python, and C++ in production. Based in San Francisco, you’ll join a small founding-like team, set standards, and build scalable hardware architecture while traveling to partner

Qualifications

• 3+ years building robotic, mechatronic, or controls systems.
• Experience deploying systems beyond the lab at real sites.
• Hands-on bring-up and integration across firmware, wiring, and app code.
• Workbench skills: soldering, harness building, fault hunting.
• Fluent Linux and ROS/ROS2; production-quality Python and C++.
• Disciplined, with test plans, documentation, and traceable measurements.
• Able to relocate to SF HQ and travel to partner sites.

Responsibilities

• Capture rigs: design and bring up hardware for multi-camera arrays and teleoperation stations.
• Calibration and time synchronization across sensors and encoders.
• Root-cause analysis and fixes to maintain continuous data capture.
• Field deployments at partner sites; ensure robustness for daily use.
• Develop and maintain capture software, drivers, and ROS integrations.
• Create repeatable builds, BOMs, docs, and SOPs for scaling to more sites.
• Set hardware architecture and coding standards for the physical AI team.
