Johnson & Johnson is seeking a Robotics Controls & Autonomy Intern in Santa Clara, CA. You will join a multidisciplinary robotics team to develop control algorithms and real-time software for surgical robotics platforms.

The program offers hands-on development alongside AI/ML, hardware testing, and production readiness tasks. Ideal candidates are pursuing a bachelor’s or higher degree, with strong C++/Python skills, familiarity with ROS, and a solid foundation in kinematics and control theory.

Qualifications

• Pursuing bachelor’s/graduate/PhD degree and returning to academia after internship.
• Permanent US work authorization required; sponsorship not provided.
• Commit to June 1 – August 20, 2027 or June 21 – September 10, 2027; full-time hours.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and test control algorithms for robotic systems.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and debugging for software quality.
• Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to define software architecture and system requirements.
• Develop C++ software for real-time, safety-critical applications.
• Document software design, algorithms, and implementation details.
