Job summary

Marlborough School in Los Angeles, CA is seeking a part-time Robotics Assistant Coach and Maker Space Specialist to supervise the robotics workshop, guide student teams through design and build cycles, and maintain maker space equipment including 3D printers, laser cutters, and CNC machines.

You will teach introductory coding and fabrication, support weekend tournaments, and help students apply the engineering design process while modeling safety, organization, and a passion for hands-on

Qualifications

• Experience in competition robotics (e.g., FIRST Tech Challenge) as a student or mentor.
• Proficient in writing code in Java or similar.
• Proficient in Computer Aided Design; Onshape preferred.
• Experience with digital fabrication tools (3D printers, laser cutters, CNC).
• Excellent organizational and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and maintain a safe, organized workshop environment.
• Support robotics teams in applying the design process to each season’s robot challenge.
• Maintain and guide Maker Space equipment (3D printers, laser cutters, CNC machines).
• Teach introductory coding and fabrication skills.
• Travel to weekend Robotics Tournaments as needed.
• Model Marlborough’s policies and promote student wellbeing and joy in learning.
