Marlborough School seeks a part-time Robotics Assistant Coach and Maker Space Specialist to support a diverse program in the Center for Entrepreneurship. The role focuses on supervising a safe workshop, guiding student teams through design challenges, and teaching basic coding and fabrication skills.

Hours are Monday–Thursday, 3:00–5:30 pm with additional flexible hours; occasional weekend tournaments may be required.

• Experience in competition robotics (FIRST Tech Challenge) as a student or mentor.
• Hours: Monday–Thursday, 3:00–5:30 pm, with 5–10 additional flexible hours as needed.
• Weekend supervision of Robotics Tournaments (4–6 weekend days per school year).
• Proficient in writing code in Java or some other programming language.
• Proficient in Computer Aided Design; Onshape preferred.
• Experience with digital fabrication tools such as 3D printers, laser cutters, or CNC machines.
• Driver's License and ability to drive school Suburban-type vehicles.
• Excellent organizational and verbal communication skills.

OPPORTUNITY STATEMENT:

Reporting to the Director of the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, the part-time Assistant Robotics Coach and Maker Space Specialist will support a diverse array of student programs in the Center for Entrepreneurship (CEI) at Marlborough School.

The Marlborough Robotics Program requires students to design, build, and program a robot to compete with other teams in an annual game. The Robotics Program focuses on engineering design process, collaborative problem solving, and the safe utilization of a wide variety of tools and technology. The mission extends beyond the Marlborough teams through student-led outreach and extensive collaboration with the local engineering community. Marlborough is currently home to four FIRST Tech Challenge teams composed of students in grades 8-12.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Supervise and maintain a safe, organized workshop environment.
• Support robotics teams in their application of the design process to each season’s robot challenge.
• Maintain and provide guidance for the Maker Space equipment, including 3D printers, laser cutters, and CNC machines.
• Teach introductory coding and fabrication skills.
• Travel, when necessary, to weekend Robotics Tournaments.
• Adhere to Marlborough’s academic policies, guidelines, and expectations while modeling a commitment to student wellbeing and joy in learning.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

• Experience in competition robotics (such as FIRST Tech Challenge) as a student or mentor.
