Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat in Groton, CT seeks a skilled CNC Programmer to develop, validate, and optimize programs for robotic or CNC-based equipment in a high‑mix, low‑volume shop. You will analyze drawings, support tooling and documentation, and troubleshoot production issues to ensure repeatable processes.

This role requires strong blueprint and GD&T interpretation, experience with FANUC/OSP controls, and CAD/CAM tools. Flexibility for shifts is expected as the submarine program scales.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 5+ years programming, setup, or operation of CNC or robotic equipment.
  • Experience interpreting mechanical blueprints and GD&T.
  • Experience with metals used in aerospace components (Inconel, Monel, stainless steels).
  • Ability to work on multiple shifts including swing shift.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, validate, and optimize programs for robotic or CNC-based equipment.
  • Analyze drawings and data to determine manufacturing requirements.
  • Support creation of setup instructions, tooling specs, and work instructions.
  • Troubleshoot machining, tooling, programming, and inspection issues.
  • Lead first-article runs and continuous-improvement initiatives.
  • Support tooling/fixture design for safe, efficient operations.
  • Suggest updates to travelers/router to improve processes.
