Job summary
Patterson-UTI Drilling Company, LLC is seeking a Technical Lead - Robotics Systems Integration to lead the automation architecture and PLC-based software for our land drilling fleet. You will drive design, development, testing, and deployment of integrated automation systems across multiple rig machines and interfaces.
You will mentor engineers, define standards, review software architecture, and lead field commissioning while partnering with Product Management and operations to optimize
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Controls, or related engineering discipline.
- 7+ years designing and developing PLC-based industrial automation systems.
- 5+ years leading automation or controls engineering projects.
- Expert knowledge of PLC programming, industrial automation, and machine control systems.
- Experience with distributed control systems and industrial communication protocols.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design of automation system architectures for rig automation and automated equipment integration.
- Provide hands-on leadership for PLC software development and system integration.
- Convert drilling workflows into coordinated automation sequences and state machines.
- Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams and mentor engineers in PLC programming and automation architecture.
- Coordinate integration activities across engineering disciplines and vendors; support FAT, SAT, commissioning, and deployment.
