Job summary

Patterson-UTI Drilling Company, LLC is seeking a Controls and Automation Support Technician to work with experts and become a subject matter expert in EcoCell, Cortex, and proprietary drilling rig controls. The role includes training crews and supporting new technology products across offshore and onshore rigs.

You will travel 50-75% to field sites, perform maintenance, updates and commissioning of control systems, and provide feedback to project leadership.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED.
2+ years experience with electrical and controls based systems.
State-issued driver’s license and ability to drive a Company vehicle.
Bachelor’s degree in a computer-/electrical-related field is a plus.

Responsibilities

Perform controls and systems based inspections, services, and repairs on new technology products and drilling rig control systems.
Update software and firmware on PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, MCCs, and other components; ensure compatibility with rig controls.
Install and commission new EcoCell, Cortex and drilling rig control systems.
Troubleshoot electrical, controls, and systems based issues on-site or via remote support.
Assist with development of training for operational crews on preventative maintenance.
Travel to drilling rigs (50-75%) to support business units; coordinate with jobsite managers and third parties.
