Job summary

Fauna Robotics, an Amazon company, is seeking a Robotics/AI Motor Control Scientist to develop cutting-edge ML algorithms for motor control in robots. You will design and optimize intelligent control strategies enabling fluid, safe, and adaptive whole-body robot behaviors.

You will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, lead projects from conception to production, mentor junior scientists, and bridge research with practical engineering in real-world environments.

Qualifications

• PhD, or Master’s degree with 6+ years of applied research experience.
• 3+ years of industry or academic research experience.
• Strong publication record at major Robotics/ML/AI conferences (RSS, CoRL, ICRA, IROS, NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR).
• Strong understanding of kinematics and motion planning for robotic systems.
• Experience with reinforcement learning, imitation learning, or other AI techniques applied to robotic motor control.

Responsibilities

• Develop controllers leveraging reinforcement & imitation learning for natural, robust motor behaviors.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to integrate motor control with hardware under real-world constraints.
• Use simulation and real-world testing to refine and validate control algorithms.
• Stay updated on robotics, AI, and control system advancements to address motion challenges.
• Lead technical projects from conception through deployment.
• Mentor junior scientists and engineers.
• Bridge research initiatives with practical engineering implementations.
