Job summary

SpaceX seeks a Thermal Development Technician, Robotic Welding to join the Starship program. You will operate and maintain robotic and automated systems, support heat shield manufacturing, and ensure precise process documentation for repeatable results.

The role requires hands-on tool use, robotic system experience, and the ability to troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems in an aerospace manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
• Experience with various types of hand tools or hand-held power tools.
• Experience operating and maintaining Kuka, Fanuc, or other 6-axis robots.
• Experience working with PLC programming, robotics, and CNC machines.
• Basic understanding of stud arc welding.
• 3+ years of experience with electrical system troubleshooting.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics and drawings.
• 3+ years of experience as a technician.
• Experience within the aerospace, automotive, semiconductor, or electronic manufacturing fields.
• Experience with hand/power tools, forklifts, and other heavy equipment.

Responsibilities

• Provide maintenance on vacuum chambers and robotic welders.
• Maintain, repair, and operate robotic assets to keep them in good condition.
• Replace and install electrical components for temperature/pressure/position control.
• Replace and install mechanical components on system equipment.
• Support fabrication of ceramic billets, tiles, gap fillers, and coatings.
• Support basic fabrication, surface preparation, bonding, and oven curing.
• Document processes precisely to enable replication.
• Perform hardware inspection and rework as required.
