Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Thermal Development Technician for robotic welding to maintain, program, and operate robotic and automated systems on the TPS team. You will support heat shield manufacturing and integration for Starship in a hands-on role.

The position emphasizes experience with robotic welders, electrical/mechanical components, and a strong background in aerospace manufacturing. You will work shifts and adhere to safety and ITAR requirements, with standards for tool use and problem solving.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
• Experience with hand tools or hand-held power tools.

Responsibilities

• Provide maintenance on equipment: vacuum chambers, thermal chambers, CNC machines, and robotic welders.
• Maintain, repair, and operate robotic assets to ensure proper operating condition.
• Replace/install electrical components (switches, relays, transformers, circuit breakers, fuses, sensors).
• Replace/install mechanical components (bearings, motors, gears, shafts, belts, gears).
• Support fabrication of ceramic billets, tiles, gap fillers, coatings for TPS.
• Assist basic fabrication, surface preparation, bonding, and oven curing operations.
• Document processes precisely to replicate steps in material processing.
• Perform hardware inspection and rework as required.
