Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Thermal Development Technician for robotic welding, focusing on heat shield components for Starship. You will maintain and operate robotic welding systems and support heat shield manufacturing and integration.

The role requires experience with electrical and mechanical systems, mechanical assembly, and the ability to work in demanding environments. Overtime and specific shift blocks may be required, with safety and ITAR guidelines governing the role.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
• Experience with various types of hand tools or hand-held power tools.
• Robotics and CNC experience preferred.
• Electrical system troubleshooting experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide maintenance on equipment: vacuum chambers, thermal chambers, CNC machines, and robotic welders.
• Maintain, repair, and operate robotic assets to ensure proper operation.
• Replace and install electrical components (switches, relays, transformers, sensors) as needed.
• Replace and install mechanical components (bearings, motors, belts, gears, piping) for system equipment.
• Support fabrication of ceramic billets, tiles, coatings, and other TPS components.
