Job description

Position Summary

The Robotic Welding Technician is responsible for ensuring parts are processed in accordance with process control plans and that production output targets are met. This position is deemed ‘safety sensitive’ due to the fact that a person improperly performing the essential or marginal functions of the job would constitute a threat to the health or safety of the employee, the employee’s co-workers, and/or the public at large.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operate manual and/or robotic welding equipment.
  • Safely apply welds per specifications to produce completed product.
  • Produce assemblies of metal work pieces to quality and efficiency standards, including repetitive lifting and placing metal work pieces and sheets into fixtures.
  • Measure dimensions of work pieces to ensure conformance using calipers, micrometers, height gages, templates, rulers, etc.
  • Read check sheets and prints to determine specifications and accurately complete all required functions.
  • Accurately document and maintain information in written or electronic form.
  • Perform operator maintenance per established schedules.
  • Safely complete finishing functions such as grinding, sanding, etc.
  • Perform quality checks as prescribed and report issues to lead and/or supervisor.
  • Modify computer‑controlled robot movements.
  • Perform preventive or corrective maintenance on robotic systems or components.
  • Develop robotic path motions to maximize efficiency, safety, and quality.
  • Assist engineers in the design, configuration, or application of robotic systems.
  • Set‑up and troubleshoot robotic systems, using knowledge of microprocessors, programmable controllers, electronics, circuit analysis, mechanics, sensor or feedback systems.
  • Responsible for adhering to company safety and QA/QC programs and OSHA regulations.
  • The ability to work overtime and regular, punctual attendance is required.
Qualifications

Minimum of five years Robotic Welding experience and/or college degree in Engineering or related field. Must have experience running an ABB 6‑axis, MIG‑welding robot. Must be proficient in reading and understanding blueprints. Must have at least three years welding experience. Must have strong math skills, and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to work independently and prioritize tasks. Must be able to handle multi‑tasks with keen attention to detail and accuracy.

Physical Demands

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and push/pull up to 75 pounds occasionally. This position requires walking and standing for long periods of time throughout the day. Fast‑paced work environment. Regularly exposed to dust, oil, fumes, and noise. Must be able to tolerate temperature fluctuations. May be required to be licensed. All of the physical demands listed are essential functions.
