Job summary

Technique is seeking a Robotic Welding Technician / Programmer to join our defense weld assembly plant in lower Michigan. This role operates and programs robotic MIG/TIG welding cells to support defense-program welds, with two competency tiers and increasing responsibility in robot programming, fixture setup, troubleshooting, and process improvement.

Requirements include a minimum of 2 years of welding experience, hands-on control of Motoman/Panasonic/Fanuc robots, PLC navigation, GD&T fluency,

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of industrial welding experience.
• Competency in Prototype Welding Technician Level 2 functions.
• Hands-on experience with Motoman, Panasonic, or Fanuc robot controllers.
• Demonstrated PLC screen navigation and program selection.
• For Level 2: offline programming experience (RoboGuide/RobotStudio) and independent CMM troubleshooting.
• GD&T fluency matched to the level.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot from CMM reports and adjust welds to pass inspections.
• Recover a robot from faults and restart programs during runs.
• Change welding points, parameters, and programs for production changes.
• Apply GD&T to prints, layouts, and inspections.
• Change out fixtures and prepare jobs with offline programming.
• Run and adjust robotic welders, including new fixtures setup (Level 2).
• Troubleshoot robot welders independently and engage OEM support when needed.
