Job summary

Technique is seeking a Robotic Welding Technician / Programmer to join our defense weld assembly plant in lower Michigan. The role operates and programs robotic MIG/TIG welding cells supporting defense-program weld assemblies.

The successful candidate will progress through two competency tiers, handling robot programming, fixture setup, troubleshooting, and process improvements. 2+ years welding experience and offline programming skills are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years industrial welding experience.
• Competency in Prototype Welding Technician Level 2 functions.
• Hands-on experience with Motoman, Panasonic, or Fanuc robot controllers.
• Demonstrated PLC screen navigation and program selection.
• For Level 2: verifiable offline programming experience (RoboGuide, RobotStudio) and independent CMM-driven troubleshooting.
• Basic-to-advanced GD&T fluency, matched to level.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot from CMM reports.
• Recover robot from faults and restart the program.
• Adjust robot points and welding parameters to maintain weld quality.
• Change programs from the PLC screen to support production changeovers.
• Apply intermediate GD&T to prints, layouts, and inspections.
• Change out fixtures to support job and program changeovers.
• Run and adjust robotic welders, including fixtures setup (Level 2).
• Prepare jobs with offline programming.
• Troubleshoot robot welders independently (OEM support as needed).
• Apply advanced GD&T to prints, layouts, inspections.
• Drive process improvements to achieve first piece quality.
