Job summary

Feldmeier Equipment Inc. is seeking a Welding Engineer to lead development, implementation, and continuous improvement of welding systems across manual, robotic, and cobot operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Welding, Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• 0-2 years welding engineering experience in fabrication/manufacturing.
• Experience with robotic welding programming and automation technologies.
• Strong understanding of GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, and stainless steel fabrication.
• Knowledge of welding metallurgy and distortion control.
• Experience with robotic process optimization, machine vision, seam tracking, or adaptive control systems.
• CWI, CWE, or robotic programming certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Program, optimize, and troubleshoot robotic and cobot welding systems.
• Develop robotic weld paths, teach points, and welding sequences for new products.
• Support integration of robotic platforms.
• Evaluate opportunities for automation and robotic process deployment.
• Lead commissioning and validation of new robotic welding cells and automated equipment.
• Develop and qualify welding procedures (WPS/PQR).
• Establish welding parameters for manual, semi-automatic, and robotic applications.
• Optimize weld penetration, distortion control, deposition rates, and process stability.
• Analyze production and weld quality data to drive continuous improvement.
• Investigate weld failures and metallurgical issues through root cause analysis; support NDE and destructive testing.
