Job summary

H.O. Bostrom Company is seeking a Welder I to join our manufacturing team. The role focuses on joining metal components using MIG welding techniques and CNC robot guidance in a production setting.

You will read blueprints, monitor welding parameters, and ensure weld quality to meet precise specifications. The position requires forklift certification, at least one year of robotic welding/programming experience, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced plant environment.

Qualifications

• Ability to read blueprints with geometric and tolerance details.
• Good math, counting, part number recognition and computer skills.
• Able to read and communicate fluently in English.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Forklift certified and robotic welding experience.

Responsibilities

• Welds components with welding equipment as specified by procedures, layouts, blueprints, diagrams, work orders, or oral instructions.
• Positions and clamps workpieces together or assembles them in jig or fixtures.
• Adjusts and monitors amperage, voltage, slope, and pulse, as specified.
• Measures dimensions with micrometers, calipers, or dial indicators; uses check fixtures.
• Guides electrode or gun along weld line to form specified depth of fusion and bead.
• Visually examines welds with gauges to ensure tolerances.
• Selects torch, torch tip, and filler rod per WPS.
• Performs part trimming, sanding, drilling, fitting and deburring as required.
• Maintains and troubleshoots welding equipment; logs maintenance actions.
• Maintains continuity among shifts by documenting actions and needs.
• Assists engineering in creating and maintaining Weld Procedure Specifications.
