Job summary

Vaco by Highspring in Alabama is seeking a hands-on Welding Engineer Specialist to lead welding automation projects in high-volume automotive production, focusing on equipment performance and cost reduction.

You will program and troubleshoot robots (Fanuc or Yaskawa/Motoman preferred), optimize welding processes (resistance, arc, MIG), and drive continuous improvement across workflow, layout, and manufacturing methods.

Responsibilities

• Lead installation and optimization of welding equipment (robotics, welders, jigs, vision systems)
• Program and troubleshoot robots (Fanuc or Yaskawa/Motoman preferred) and PLC-controlled systems
• Support resistance, arc, and/or MIG welding processes
• Drive cost reduction and continuous improvement initiatives
• Improve workflow, layout, and manufacturing methods for maximum efficiency
• Identify and resolve weld quality issues; support welding maintenance and training
