Job summary

Standard Iron is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer with a focus on robotic welding to advance weld quality and productivity in our sheet metal fabrication operations. You will program, test, and optimize welding processes across FANUC, ABB, Yaskawa/Motoman, and KUKA robots, while supporting continuous improvement and NPI initiatives.

The role requires hands-on tooling and process development, CAD/CAM proficiency, and experience with laser cutting, punching, bending, and assembly.

Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Welding Technology, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • 3–7 years of manufacturing engineering experience with emphasis on robotic welding.
  • Experience programming industrial robotic weld systems (FANUC, ABB, Yaskawa/Motoman, or KUKA).
  • Strong understanding of robotic MIG welding processes and weld parameter development.
  • Proficiency with CAD/CAM software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and nesting software.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems and continuous improvement methods.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, program, and optimize robotic welding applications across industrial robots.
  • Perform teach pendant and offline programming for welding cells.
  • Develop, validate, and optimize weld parameters to maximize quality and productivity.
  • Program and optimize CNC equipment using SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and nesting tools.
  • Improve processes for laser cutting, punching, forming, bending, welding, and assembly.
  • Design tools, fixtures, and weld fixtures to improve repeatability and throughput.
  • Support NPI by reviewing designs for manufacturability and developing weld sequences.
  • Troubleshoot welding issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Lead Lean Six Sigma projects to reduce waste and improve throughput.
  • Collaborate with customers, sales, quality, and operations to meet specs and schedules.
