Job summary

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is seeking a Highway Technician Assistant I to perform basic highway maintenance tasks in Carrollton, KY. You will operate light equipment, assist with winter snow operations, and learn surveying and traffic control basics.

The role requires a high school diploma, a valid driver's license, and within a year, a Class B CDL plus First Aid and Snow/Ice training with OSHA 10 or equivalent. OT eligible and full-time employment.

Qualifications

• High school graduate required.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
• Within 12 months, provide documentation of a valid Class B CDL.
• Within one year, complete First Aid and Snow and Ice Training and Traffic Control/Flagger certifications.

Responsibilities

• Operate a small single axle dump truck hauling materials to and from job sites.
• Operate dump trucks with snow plow and salt spreader during winter.
• Operate a tractor-type mowing machine; assist in brush cutting and use chemical sprayers.
• Learn and assist with basic surveying activities or construction projects.
• Flag for operations requiring traffic control.
• Perform minor repairs and maintenance on equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
