Job summary

Kentucky Transportation Cabinet in Carrollton, KY is seeking a Highway Technician Assistant I to perform basic highway maintenance tasks. You will operate a small dump truck, plow and salt spreader in winter, use mowing equipment, assist with surveying, and flag traffic while performing light repairs.

Minimum requirements: high school graduate; must be 18; valid driver's license with Class B CDL within 12 months; complete First Aid, Snow and Ice Training, Traffic Control/Flagger and OSHA 10

Qualifications

• High school graduate.
• Experience, training, or skills: NONE.
• Must be 18 years of age.
• Within 12 months, obtain Class B CDL.
• Within one year, complete First Aid and Snow and Ice Training and possess Traffic Control/Flagger and OSHA 10 Certifications.

Responsibilities

• Operate a small single axle dump truck hauling materials to and from job sites.
• Operate dump trucks with snow plow and salt spreader to work in the winter months.
• Operate a tractor-type mowing machine, assist in brush cutting, and use chemical sprayers.
• Learn and assist with basic surveying activities or construction projects.
• Flag for operations requiring traffic control.
• Perform minor repairs and maintenance work on equipment.
